Beginning of it all


150 years ago the British Parliament passed an act that started Canada's journey towards independence. When we covered this subject in my High School Social Studies class, my teacher explained to us that the British parliament begrudgingly gave Canada semi independence to avoid another American revolution. Even though I've


never been able to corroborate this narrative it makes sense to a degree: a government wouldn't pass something that was not self serving. However, just because a piece of legislation is good for one does not mean it cannot benefit another also.
